A well-known fundamental property of laminated
glass is its high level of safety and security.
In addition to fundamental properties including
the above, heat control is also required
for laminated glass recently to create more
comfortable space, and for environmental
reasons. For example, laminated glass used
in vehicles' windshields needs to improve
the efficiency of air conditioners for further
passenger amenity. Because relatively large
amount of heat is transmitted through a
windshield, heat control has been required
for automotive glass. Meanwhile, in the
environmental views, heat control is effective
to reduce fuel consumption because the car
engine is not overwhelmed if an air conditioner
more efficiently cools in-car space with
glass that controls the temperature. Moreover
it allows cars to carry smaller and lighter
air conditioners. Solar control laminated
glass can be used also for architectural
uses to achieve outcomes similar to the
automotive uses mentioned above.
