Fusion Machines
(1)Fusion Machines

(2)Be sure to observe the following matters when carrying out the fusion joining work

During the preparation
Cut the pipe perpendicularly, and finish the burrs and roughness of the cutting face.
Observe the fusion conditions (such as heater face temperature, duration of fusion and length of insertion) indicated in the Working Instructions for ESLON CLEAN Pipes and do the process work correctly.
Be sure to ground the heat fusion machine so as to prevent from getting an electric shock.

(3)Tools for Fusion Joining

(In case of joining sockets by a Type 150 Semi-Automatic Heat Fusion Machine)

Fusion machine
Surface Thermometer
Adjustable Spanner
Hexagonal Bar Wrench
Pipe Cutter (such as Rotary Cutting Tools, Rotary Hand Cutters)
Knife
Magic Marker
Scale
Cotton
Acetone (cleaning agent)
Gloves

Process of Fusion Joining/ In case of Type 150 Semi-Automatic Fusion Machine

  Mounting the heater face

Setting the pipe and fitting to the clamp

  Setting the fittings

  Setting the pipe

Aligning the pipe with the fitting

Alignment of the pipe and fitting with the heater face

Checking the temperature of the heater face

  Setting the duration of fusion

Insert the pipe and fitting to the heater face, insert to the specified length

The above-mentioned processes will be done automatically and the joining process will be completed

Caution
Do not lean your face or body out of the control panel or lean out from the opposite side or from the circumference of the control panel toward the fusion machine when the machine is running. (Such movements are dangerous as the heater plate will rise and the hydraulic cylinder will start to run automatically at the same time as the heat fusion process completes.)

As for the detailed handling methods of each heat fusion machine, see the Working Instructions on ESLON CLEAN Piping Materials and the Handling and Working Manual on the ESLON PPS Heat Fusion Machine.

In Case of Solvent Cement Joining

Cement Joining Work

1. Cut the pipe perpendicularly, and chamfer the inside and outside of the pipe.
2. Mark the benchmark and identify the zero point.

3. Use the designated solvent cement.
No.80 for ESLOCLEAN PIPE SUPER

4. Apply the solvent cement to pipes and fittings evenly.

Pay special attention so that the cement does not overflow into the inside of the pipes. Apply the cement a little bit fewer on the fitting side and a little bit more on the pipe side.

5. Don't do the joining work when the atmospheric temperature is below 5oC. (Heat the workshop).

  Holding and Curing the Joint
6. Hold the joint for one minute in summer and two minutes in winter. The standard curing time is more than 24 hours under a Nominal temperature. In a low temperature season, the curing time should be more than 72 hours.
7. If the solvent cement gas remains in the pipe even after the piping work, it may cause the pipe to crack (the SC phenomenon). Therefore, open the pipeline, including valves, and send in clean air or nitrogenous gas for more than 24 hours to purge the cement gas. If the pipeline is long, extend the air supply piping while purging the cement gas.

As for the detailed procedures of joining work, see the Working Instructions on 1. ESLON CLEAN Piping Materials.

Observe the following instructions when doing the heat fusion joining and cement joining works
1. 1. Pipe end caps are fitted for keeping the pipes clean. So, do not remove them until the removal is necessary.
2. Wear clean gloves when you do the joining work and absolutely don't do the work with your bare hands.
3. Acetone is flammable and is designated as a dangerous object. So, be careful when you handle it.
4. When you do the leakage test and pressure test on the pipeline, do the tests with water pressure. If you have to use a gas, use the gas at a pressure of less than 0.2 Mpa (2kgf/cm2).
5. When you check the air-tightness of the joints, don't use a leak detecting liquid available from the market. Such a liquid may cause cracks to your pipes, fittings or valves.
